Senior Director Product Management, YouTube Shorts

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in product management, including providing product vision, strategy development, data-influenced product planning, prioritization, and directing product launches from conception through launch.
  • 10 years of experience managing a team of product managers.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with modern approaches to ML powered video recommendations.
  • Experience working on machine learning centered teams focused on content recommendations and end to end consumer products.
  • Deep understanding of the unique dynamics of short-form creation, anticipating and shaping evolving trends.
  • Ability to guide and work on multiple initiatives at the same time, and demonstrated success leading complex projects with multiple partners and stakeholders.
  • Track record of driving innovation for both scaled and zero to one products.
  • Proven track record of building user-facing product experiences across complex projects.

About the job

As YouTube Shorts Director of Product Management, you will be responsible for shaping the future of short-form video and the success of YouTube Shorts. You will drive the vision, product roadmap, and ensure YouTube Shorts not only remains a leader in the short-form video landscape but also propel it to the next level of creator participation and engagement.

In this role, you will lead YouTube's strategy and product roadmap in the short-form video landscape. By defining and driving the vision the role shapes the experiences of users globally. The direct outcome is significant growth in both user engagement and creator adoption, translating to gains in platform relevance, business generation, and market positioning.

You will set the vision, prioritize key initiatives, and make critical product development decisions across creation, consumption, and recommendations.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $320,000-$445,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Define and own the YouTube Shorts product vision and roadmap across creation, consumption, and recommendations. 
  • Secure organizational buy-in and resource allocation by advocating YouTube Shorts initiatives at key leadership summits, and drive alignment at the C-Suite level.
  • Lead the development and improvement of YouTube's Shorts algorithms and ranking systems to ensure users find the most relevant and engaging content.
  • Align product efforts with overarching business objectives and business generation strategies.
  • Grow and develop a high-performing product team by attracting, growing, and retaining the world’s best talent.
